ON THE JUSTIFICATION OF THE ROJAVA TRIBUNAL

Today, the region known globally as Rojava corresponds to the northeast of Syria. In fact, the word Rojava means west in Kurdish and geographically refers to the west of Kurdistan.

Since 2011, Rojava has acquired a unique and different meaning following the Syria-centred global development. Although it geographically covers Northern and Eastern Syria, it represents a democratic people’s revolution, in other words, a new model from a socio-political point of view, rather than pointing to a place.

The Rojava Revolution represents a new democratic model, especially in a difficult geography such as the Middle East, by reuniting all different ethnic, religious and sectarian identities based on self-governance in a women’s libertarian line.

All the important crimes committed by the Republic of Turkey that will be brought to the agenda with the tribunal to be realized are related to targeting the libertarian potential revealed by the Rojava revolution. Without reflecting the background of these grave crimes, it will not be possible to understand why some forces, especially the Turkish state, persistently want to eliminate this revolutionary development.
